Reviews

Theguardian.com describes Kendi's book "An idea, action or policy is either racist – that is, contributing to a history that regards and treats different races as inherently unequal – or it is antiracist, because it is trying to dismantle that history. " They go into detail describing this book as one that raises a lot of questions to the readers.

Personal reflection

The book I read by Kendi is titled How to be an Antiracist which discusses the ways we internalize racism. I really enjoyed this book because it has exposed me to new vocabulary and went into details and gave real life situations in which these terms are used. As a white woman I have never faced the experiences that a lot of people of color do. This book opened my eyes to a lot of it and even described that people of the same race and ethnicity can act racist towards each other which was something I wasn't knowledgeable about.

  1. I love love love Ibram Kendi!!! I actually learned all about him in my anti-racism class last semester with Dr. DeVries. He is amazing and I agree with you when it comes to the knowledge of vocabulary that this young individual has. He is extremely influential with his words and holds so much power. Kendi goes into great depth about his experience as well as his concept of anti-racism and what it defines as to him. I think that you chose an extraordinary author but you are missing a lot of detail. I love what you have created so far but I wish there was more for me to read. There is so much you can talk about when it comes to this author and so many achievements he has accomplished so I wish you could have put in more about the author himself. Other things that could have benefited this blog would be to tell your audience about his own self, go into more detail about his personal life.
